Meet Our Pack

From our Founder & Owner

Gina Wells & Miss Kitty

The story of Miss Kitty’s Dog Resort is pretty simple. It all started because I had a hard time finding quality care for my beloved Pomeranian, Miss Kitty. Time after time, I was reluctant to board her because I could never find a dog boarding facility I felt was good enough for a member of my family.

At the time, I was a licensed veterinary technician and certified professional groomer in Nashville, ready to start my own business. With the help of my late ex-husband Jimmy, Miss Kitty’s opened in Nashville during the summer of 1991 as a full service dog grooming salon. Clients loved our property and location and soon started asking if we could board their dogs. We knew then that Miss Kitty’s was meant to be more than just a salon.

Four years after opening, we moved to our current location and then later expanded our dog boarding and dog daycare property to serve thousands of Nashville’s finest pups. We are proud to say we are cage and leash free! And every guest enjoys fresh air in our large outdoor space with green grass, shade from big pine trees, and plenty of sunshine.

I am a true pet lover, and at Miss Kitty’s we believe dogs are members of the family. Our staff members are carefully picked and go through a thorough orientation before they are hands on with any of our guests. While your dog is here they will be spoiled with belly rubs, face-time, constant attention, and socialization with their friends. We believe we have the best dog daycare and dog boarding environment in Nashville. We wouldn’t leave our dogs anywhere else! Why would you?

Our Namesake

From 1955-1974, red-haired actress Amanda Blake played a tough but big hearted saloon owner named “Miss Kitty Russell” on the western TV series, Gunsmoke.

Gina named her first dog, a feisty, tiny, red-haired Pomeranian, Miss Kitty after Blake’s character on the show. Thus, our mascot and Miss Kitty’s Dog Resort’s namesake was born.

While the original Miss Kitty passed away in 1993, a new Miss Kitty came to join our family in March of 2019. She is an avid Nashville Predators fan and loves to be cuddled.

Guest Reviews

We are so thankful for the kind, professional, and compassionate care given at Miss Kitty’s. Not only do they give the best baths, they love dogs unconditionally. Our dog Elmo is cared for 24/7 including administering his allergy medicine in the afternoon and a giving him his favorite cheese snack before bed.

Elizabeth R., Hillsboro Village

Our Yorkie mix, Bama, has been attending dog daycare at Miss Kitty’s twice per week for almost 9 years. Miss Kitty’s feels like a part of our family and the staff is awesome. They treat her as one of their own and when we arrive, they make her feel as if she is “home.” When we are out of town, it is important to us that she is cared for in a fashion that is similar to our own. Being able to reside in a larger Saloon Style suite and having consistent playtime during the stay is not only important to us, but to her well-being, too. If she has a special need, the staff is there for her and her friends.

We’ve been coming to Miss Kitty’s for three years now, and our dog Millie loves this place! As soon as she arrives, she runs out of my arms and down the hall to see all her friends in the staff. I’m so glad she has such a great place to go to when I have to go out of town and either board her or send her over for some puppy fun at daycare. Miss Kitty’s is a fun clean place with an amazing staff who takes care of my little girl. Wouldn’t think of going anywhere else.

John A., Crieve Hall

Miss Kitty’s is a second home to our little girl Nelly Jo. The facility is always clean and well kept. From the front desk staff, to the boarding nannies, to the groomers, we trust them completely.
